☽︎Rosi's Morning Sky

Night sky tonight in Tenerife (Teide)

The night of Sunday 18 October to Monday 19 October 2026

At a glance

Sunset 19:30, properly dark from 20:26, getting light from 07:16, sunrise 08:11 (local time).

The Moon is 54 per cent lit and waxing, setting at 01:29. It is in the zodiac sign of Capricorn.

The sky of the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands have some of the darkest skies in Europe. On La Palma and Tenerife a law of its own, the Ley del Cielo, has protected the night sky from light since 1988; on the Roque de los Muchachos stands the Gran Telescopio Canarias, one of the largest telescopes in the world. At about 28 degrees north the islands see Canopus rise, the second brightest star of the sky, which never rises for most of Europe, and much more of the southern sky.

The planets

Not visible: Mercury, Venus (too close to the Sun or not up in the dark).

ISS and space stations

Visible passes this night and the next two: the station lit by the Sun, the sky dark. It glides across the sky as a bright steady point, without blinking.

High in the sky at 10 pm
