Wednesday 15 September 2027, 23:03 UTC
The Moon is in the zodiac sign of Pisces (22°), the Sun opposite in Virgo.
Distance from the Earth: 399,353 km.
What the tradition sees in it
At full moon the Sun and the Moon stand exactly opposite each other; astrology reads the tension between the two signs. Order and surrender: the plan against letting go into something larger.
The name
In the North American tradition, now used everywhere, it is the Harvest Moon. Being the full moon nearest the September equinox, it is the Harvest Moon: it rises soon after sunset several evenings in a row, which once gave farmers longer light for the harvest.
